Three of our beers have been crowned Champion Beers of Cumbria 2010 by CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale.)

Hawkshead’s Lakeland Gold won the Best Bitter category for the second year running, Organic Stout was judged to be the best Stout and Brodie’s Prime the best Porter, in the annual awards for Cumbrian beers, announced at the Beer Lovers Dinner at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal on Saturday.

We won the top prize in 3 out of the 10 cask beer categories, voted on by CAMRA branches in the North West region, and came second in one other – the Bitter category.

This follows North of England wide success, the previous week, for another Hawkshead beer – Windermere Pale – which won silver medal in the biggest category, Bitters and Pale Ales, contested by 77 beers, at the Society of Independent Brewers, North, competition at The Palace Hotel, Manchester.

Our Managing Director, Alex Brodie said: “Lakeland Gold keeps winning awards, including national ones, I am delighted our other beers are now also getting recognition. This comes at a good time for the brewery, just as we are about to take a deep breath and open our new bar at Staveley.”
