We're launching our new beer at the same time as it goes on sale in Sainsbury’s.
Preview bottles which were released ahead of the launch on Tuesday 17th September, have already won a 2 star Great Taste award from the Guild of Fine Food, have reached the national final of the Great British Beer Hunt and are now on sale in 300 Sainsbury’s stores.
The beer is the bottled version of the highly successful cask beer, Windermere Pale - a thoroughly modern beer first brewed in the summer of 2009 to fulfil public demand for a low ABV, highly flavoured, modern hoppy beer. The bottled version of Windermere Pale, which at 4% abv is slightly stronger than in cask, has been created in response to continuous demand for the draught beer to be available in bottle.
Windermere Pale is brewed with soft Lakeland water, Maris Otter malted barley & full flower hops – blending three traditional English hops & the modern American hop, Citra to produce a highly refreshing, very pale ale, bursting with hop character & a fine fruity aroma.
The Great British Beer Hunt started with an intense round of heats earlier this year in which more than 150 beers from 70 breweries across the UK were judged by Sainsbury’s customers and beer experts. Of the 156 beers that were entered the 20 (five beers from each of four UK regions) which received the highest number of votes go on sale in Sainsbury’s store from 11th September- 2nd October.
If you don’t have a store local to you, Windermere Pale and the other 19 beers are available to buy from Sainsbury’s online here for delivery to your home address. The 12 best-selling beers then go into a grand final where a panel of experts will select the two overall winners. The two winners each receive a six-month listing in Sainsbury’s stores up and down the country from November this year.
