Hawkshead Brewery has won silver and bronze medals in the 2010 International Beer Challenge – for two of its bottled beers.
“Lakeland Gold” won bronze and “Red” a silver in the largest bottled beer competition in Britain, which attracted 500 entries from 31 countries.
Winners are entitled to use the instantly recognisable International Beer Challenge symbol of excellence. The competition organisers say their purpose is to celebrate and recognise the exceptional craftsmanship of brewers from around the world.
“Lakeland Gold has won a lot of awards, but I am particularly glad that our ‘Red’ is now getting recognition as well,” said Hawkshead Brewery’s Alex Brodie. “Pale beers continue to be the fashion, but we keep banging the drum for coloured beers, like ‘Red’”.
