    Raspberry Sour Sells Out

The first in our series of 5 new beers to be launched has sold out.

We sold 60 litres of Raspberry Sour at The Beer Hall in just 7 hours from its first pouring at 6pm on Friday 28th August.

One drinker described it on Twitter as “the perfect post Striding Edge tonic” and another as simply "yummy tasty".

The next new rare beer launch is at 6pm on Friday 4th September.

  • We’re launching 5 brand new rare keg beers, one a week over the next 5 weeks, starting this Friday, the 28th August, with Raspberry Sour.

Some of these beers have been brewed with ingredients rarely seen before in a beer. They are innovative, rare, one-offs, only on draught, and we’ve filled so few kegs that they are not on general sale. So to sample them you will have to get to The Beer Hall on launch days, as there will only be one 30 litre keg.

The weekly new beer will be announced on the Wednesday prior to the launch. Check our website and social media feeds for details.

The first new beer to be showcased, Raspberry Barrel Aged Sour, is a 3.3% Berliner Weisse-style beer with whole fresh raspberries, aged in oak wine casks that have previously held Red Burgundy (Pinot Noir grapes).

Each beer comes from the fevered brain of our Head Brewer Matt who has been experimenting with techniques and ingredients.

    New beer launches are at 6pm at The Beer Hall on the following dates;

    • Friday 28th August
    • Friday 4th September
    • Friday 11th September
    • Saturday 19th September
    • Friday 25th September

Bitter, Lakeland Gold and Cumbrian Five Hop are CAMRA ‘Beers of the Year’ as listed in the new 2016 Good Beer Guide, just published.

Over the course of the year the beers go through several rounds of judging and were found by CAMRA judges to be consistently outstanding in their categories. All three beers were shortlisted for the Champion Beer of Britain (CBOB) competition held at the Great British Beer Festival (GBBF) in August.

“‘Beers of the Year’ appear in every year’s Good Beer Guide and it’s rare to see a brewery with three beers listed. We’re delighted to have been triple finalists at The Champion Beer of Britain.” commented Sales Manager Anne.

While at GBBF Anne met Michael Hardman, one of the original gang of four lads from Warrington who started CAMRA and said “we both got a bit glassy-eyed to see how far it has come.”

Jester, our Great British session beer that we first brewed in the spring, is back. It was very well received first time around… so we just had to brew it again.

It’s our salute to Great British ingredients – brewed with English Maris Otter barley and hopped with Jester and another of our favourite British hops, Bramling Cross.

Jester is a new British hop variety grown as part of hop merchants Charles Faram’s breeding programme, it’s touted as the closest to powerful American aroma hops ever grown in Britain.

Available in cask, Jester is refreshing and hoppy, with complex fruit aromas and flavours. The pale malt base and low strength (3.7% abv) showcases the flavour of the hops perfectly.
