Brewers from thirteen top craft breweries got together to brew a special beer on Friday 22nd July to mark “Northern Craft” - our 10th summer beer festival.

Head Brewer Matt called in his generation of craft brewers to come and pool ideas. Brewers from Magic Rock, Thornbridge, Pivovar, Ashover, Cloudwater, Marble, Quantum, Siren, Buxton, Fyne, Runaway and Roosters collaborated.

Beer lovers attending the festival were able to watch the beer being brewed, a highly hopped session IPA, which will be on sale in a few weeks.

Throughout the three days of Northern Craft 8 and a half pints of beer a minute (or a pint every 7 seconds) were sold. During 33 hours of opening from noon on Thursday to 11pm on Saturday, 243 casks and kegs, of 106 different beers from 29 breweries were drunk dry.

  • Orbit Pale Ale 3.5% is the first one-off beer in our cask session series.

It's an all New Zealand hopped pale ale brewed with Wai-iti and Orbit.

Wai-iti hops provide wonderfully fruity characteristics of citrus and stone fruit such as fresh peach and ripe apricot.

Orbit is the name of a blend of hops specially selected from the New Zealand “Hops with a Difference” breeding program. These hops are selected on their unique aroma and flavour characteristics as well as their brewing quality. The hops may be grown in very small plots at the New Zealand Plant and Food Research Centre in Riwaka or in larger selected trial gardens across the region. No two years are the same and we'll never get this blend of hops again.

  • Our festival Northern Craft is a unique collection and celebration of craft brewing in Northern Britain.

We’ve gathered together some of the most exciting & innovative independent breweries to show off their beer over a three day festival from 21st – 23rd July.

On Friday 22nd there’ll be a mass collaboration brew to mark our 10th summer beer festival. Head Brewer Matt will be joined by friends from pioneering breweries of the British craft beer scene. Drinkers will be able to watch brewers from Ashover, Cloudwater, Magic Rock, Marble, Pivovar, Quantum, Roosters, Runaway, Siren and Thornbridge create one epic brew.

The beer list is eclectic and as part of our own offering we’ll be launching a couple of limited edition specials not on general release; Earl Grey & Seville Orange Sour 3.3% and Dry Hopped Citra Sour 3.3%.

There’ll be cask and keg bars throughout the brewery. Cask ales will all be served on hand pull, from properly chilled cellars.

As well as serving food from our own kitchen we’re hosting street food stalls from Pappy's Texas BBQ, Doi Intanon (authentic Thai cuisine) and Scream for Pizza. There’ll also be live music.

There’ll be over 80 beers on cask and keg, showcasing 24 British breweries. No ticket is necessary, we don’t charge an entrance fee to customers.

Check Twitter and Facebook for exhibiting brewery and beer list announcements.
