Cumbrian Five Hop has won another award, this time Silver in the golden ale category of CAMRA north west region competition.

It was judged earlier this year at Chorlton Beer Festival where it was blind tasted alongside golden ales from across the north west.

The award was presented to our team at Manchester's Indy Man Beer Con by Caroline O'Donnell from CAMRA.

    Double Award Win for IPA

IPA wins both gold in its category and bronze as an overall cask champion at the SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) North West region beer competition.

Beers from 61 breweries were blind tasted at the annual competition held at Bolton Rugby Club on Wednesday 14th October. Our 7% New Zealand and American hopped IPA was awarded best in it’s category of Premium Strong Beers and went on to be judged amongst other category winners for Overall Cask Champion taking a bronze medal.

It’s the first competition win for IPA and we’re really pleased it won overall bronze.

  • Fresh off the back of Tiny Rebel’s champion beer of Britain win with red ale Cwtch we were happy to host Gareth for a cheeky collab brew. The mind boggles at what head brewers Matt and Gareth could create and the resulting brew doesn’t disappoint.

White IPA is the ultimate collaboration of beer styles – a spiced wheat beer meets an IPA. It’s brewed with 40% wheat, low colour Maris Otter, oats, coriander, Seville orange peel and dry hopped with a mixture of New Zealand and USA hops.

We used a new hop from America called ‘Jarrylo’ for bittering the beer which has laid base flavours of banana, pear, orange and spice” said Matt, “the mash up of the two styles means you get to enjoy the best of both beer styles”.

At 6% White IPA is well balanced, bringing you huge tropical fruits to the nose, low bitterness from the hops and a light spicing from the coriander. It finishes with a lovely big mouthfeel from the wheat and oats. A collaboration which has resulted in one sensory overloaded beer!

Launching at The Beer Hall (in cask & keg) on Friday 9th October and at Manchester festival Indy Man Beer Con.

We're at Indy Man Beer Con

We’ve pulled out all the stops for Indy Man this year which takes place from Thursday 8th - Sunday 11th October, as well as taking some of our rare and limited edition keg beers we’ve got 3 exclusives, all in pins so super limited, plus we’ll be launching White IPA, our collab brew with Tiny Rebel.

All of our 5 limited edition keg beers we launched earlier this autumn, have made it onto the Indy Man list; Raspberry Barrel Aged Sour, Chuckleberry Sour, a barrel aged blend of Solar Sour & our popular Bretted wheat beer Wild Wheat, Chocolate & Tonka Bean Imperial Porter and Key Lime Tau (2π).

Bringing you a triple whammy of Key Lime goodness, we have the one and only cask in existence of our Rainbow Project collab, Key Lime Tau (2π), not only that but we are giving you the very rare opportunity to sample both keg versions too, one brewed with us and the other in Colorado at Crooked Stave.

We’ll have a sneak peak in cask of this year’s oak-aged release, No 5, a matured version of Brodie’s Prime Export aged for 9 months in red Burgundy casks. Our other cask exclusive is Chocolate & Tonka Bean Imperial Porter, previously only released in keg.

Furthermore we’ve got a keg of Oat Wine (a preview of what is to come in bottle later this year), a matured 9% beer brewed in collaboration with Wild Beer.

If that wasn’t enough Indy Man will host the only launch, outside of our own brewery tap, of White IPA – our fruit-bomb of a beer brewed with Tiny Rebel last month. This mash-up of styles which weighs in at 6% combines low bitterness and lots of aroma with a wheat beer mouthfeel.

Plus if you merely want to satisfy your taste buds with something familiar, never fear, we’re also taking kegs of NZPA, Great White and Sundown amongst others.
