Hawkshead Brewery is a craft brewery, brewing traditional beer styles with a modern twist, in the heart of the English Lake District.
We have been brewing since 2002, at first in a barn just outside the village of Hawkshead, at the head of Esthwaite Water and now in a new tailor-made brewery beside the River Kent, in Staveley, at the foot of the Kentmere Valley.
The new brewery is a 20 barrel (3,300 litre) plant, with a weekly capacity of 100 barrels. It was made for us by Moeschle in Southern Germany.
Alongside the new brewery, and looking down into it, we have built The Beer Hall as a showcase for Real Ale.
The Beer Hall is the brewery tap, sampling room, visitors centre and beer shop. We sell all sorts of beer, not just our own. The Beer Hall is open seven days a week, in the day time. It has a Cask Marque award for serving “the perfect pint”.
Hawkshead Brewery is an active member of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) and is proud to be a small part of the modern revolution in the British brewing industry, the aim of which is the permanent revival of the British national drink – beer.
